The 2018 WISE 50 over 50 Awards have launched and are ready for applicants/nominees

May 3, 2018

Know any entrepreneurs who started a business after reaching 50?

After the success of the inaugural 2017 WISE 50 Over 50 Awards, we are pleased to announce the 2018 awards are open for applications and nominations. The 50 over 50 Awards recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of people who are harnessing the power of experience to make an idea or a long-held dream a reality.
Canadians over 50 are the fastest growing segment of the business start-up population, yet, they are still the most under served and under supported group of entrepreneurs. In order for change to happen, we need to continue to draw attention to the accomplishments of people who are harnessing the power of experience to make an idea or a long-held dream a reality.
Open to Canadian residents who started their business after turning 50, the award’s submission deadline is June 30. Judging of this year’s awards will be done by winners of the 2017 awards. Testimonials have been given by some of the 2017 winners, to encourage others to apply. That is a testament in itself, older entrepreneurs showing the importance of supporting older entrepreneurship, in Canada. The testimonials can be found here. And, if you haven’t seen the 2017 winners, you will see the tab on the website to find out all about.

Submissions will be accepted from founders of new businesses, purchasers of existing businesses and franchises, and initiators of family and intergenerational businesses – as long as the entrepreneur is a majority owner of the business and the head office is in Canada.  Applications, supporters and more information may be found on the WISE website awards section. There will be a total of 50 awards.

Entrepreneurs have made huge impacts throughout the history of Canada. It’s time for entrepreneurs over 50 to be recognized for the wisdom, initiative, skills, and experience they bring to the business world – modern day heroes, models, and mentors.

Apply or nominate someone and help us spread the word about the WISE 50 Over 50 Awards by sharing via your distribution lists and social media networks using hash tag #50over50awards.

Thank you for your interest in the WISE 50 over 50 Awards. I look forward to having you join other organizations from across Canada by supporting the WISE 50 over 50 Awards.

MEDIA KIT

Thank you for your support of the 2018 50over50 Awards.

We know we can’t do it alone and appreciate the support you are giving by spreading the word. It doesn’t matter whether it’s through your email list, social media, blogs on your website, Facebook posts, sharing on LinkedIn or all of the above, it will draw attention to the newest and fastest growing group of entrepreneurs.  Due to the low number of older entrepreneurs using Twitter it is recommended that Facebook and LinkedIn take priority over Twitter when sharing information.

The 2018 50 over 50 Awards launched on March 26 and although we are only getting started in promoting the Awards, I’m pleased to say we have already received a number of nominations.  But, it’s normal for people to wait until the end to register for anything which means we have to push this as much as we can, not only now, but right up to the end of June. In order to make this easier for you we have put together suggested posts and tweets which you will find below. Feel free to modify them to suit your needs.

I ask that you follow @wendy_mayhew so we can retweet any tweets that you send. As well, please use hashtag #50over50 when tweeting.

Also included is a png of the 50over50 logo for your use.  As the logo is our brand for the 50over 50 initiative, please don’t make modifications to it other than sizing it to suit your needs.

Thank you once again for your support. I will keep you up-to-date on how the awards are progressing. If you need anything please contact me via email – wendy@wise-seniorsinbusiness.com or by phone @ 613 838 4353.

Best regards,

Wendy Mayhew
